“Maybe My Institute’s Director Would Be Willing to Do the Same.”

아마 우리 학원 원장님도 기꺼이 그렇게 해주실 거야.

우리 학원 원장님은 my institute’s director나 the director of my institute로 둘 다 표현할 수 있습니다. 이와 같이 사람들의 조직과 같은 장소의 소유격은 ’s와 of 두 형태로 나타낼 수 있습니다. 그러나 the ending of the movies와 같이 명사가 무생물일 경우는 ’s로 소유격을 만들지 않고 of를 사용해 표현합니다.

Peter: Betty, are you going home for Christmas?

Betty: I’m not sure. Our winter break is shorter than I expected.

Peter: So is mine. I spoke with the director of my institute, and he said I could get a few extra days if I work a few Sundays this month.

Betty: Really? That sounds like a fair trade-off. Maybe my institute’s director would be willing to do the same.

Peter: You never know until you try.

Betty: That’s true, well, I’m going to give him a call and find out if that’s OK.

Peter: I hope it is. I’m sure you would enjoy a nice trip home.

Betty: I would. It seems like forever since I’ve seen my family.

피터: 베티, 크리마스 때 집에 갈 거야?

베티: 잘 모르겠어. 우리 겨울 방학이 생각했던 것보다 짧아.

피터: 우리 겨울방학도 그래. 우리 학원 원장님과 이야기 해봤는데 내가 이번 달 일요일에 몇 번 일하면 추가로 며칠 휴가를 낼 수 있다고 말씀하셨어.

베티: 정말? 공정한 거래 같은데. 아마 우리 학원 원장님도 기꺼이 그렇게 해주실 거야.

피터: 시도해 보기 전까지는 모르지.

베티: 맞아, 참, 원장님께 전화해서 그게 가능한지 알아봐야겠어.

피터: 그렇게 되길 바래. 너도 집에 가면 정말 좋을 거야.

베티: 그럴 거야. 우리 가족을 본 게 정말 오래된 거 같아.
